End of season presentations 2021/22

On Saturday 2nd July, the club got together for it’s annual celebration of the season. Below is the chairmains speech, and a summary of the awards presented.

Chairman’s speech

Good afternoon All,

Thank you for coming to this afternoon’s event to celebrate the 21/22 season. If you weren’t aware this was the clubs 25 th anniversary and it’s proven to be the busiest year the club has ever seen.

As with any season there is always a great deal of work to do and with that the club needs the right people behind it to move it forward. Firstly, I would like to thank the Exec committee of Karen, Hayley, Natasha, Scott, and Matt for all their incredible hard work they have all put in. Also, a huge thank you to all the management teams and helpers for the huge amount of time and effort they have put into their teams, the club cannot exist without all these guys. I believe all of these deserve a round of applause.

The season has seen some fantastic achievement’s by so many. The new defib arrived and accessible for all and our managers were all trained by Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, thank you to them for their help.

Our U15’s won their league title in the Royston Crow League, our U16’s Girls reached a play-off final and a cup final but were pipped at the post. Our new facility project began and the club started its new makeover. With countless hours of hard work, donations, and hard graft the facility is now in its final stages of completion. It was sad to see our old facility being removed as it done the club well over the years but we look forward to having our new facility ready for the 22/23 season.

To get a real appreciation of what this year has been about and how busy it has been I just want to share some figures with you. The club was able to spend a staggering £51,249 of which £21,000 of that was from fundraising alone, I believe these figures only illustrate the hard work and time spent on this season, getting it right and moving the club forward in the right direction. We were all stunned by the figures, but we also recognise what we have all achieved this season.

Tournaments

Two tournaments in one season! With the 2nd being our biggest one to date with 82 teams attending the event in the glorious sunshine and our U8’s, U10 Girls and our U15 Sat team all winning their respective age groups.

Our tournament has now become one of the most popular tournaments in Bedfordshire and the surrounding area. The overwhelming feedback from so many teams make this event so worthwhile not forgetting to mention this event alone raised £5300 for our club. The tournament has grown from strength to strength over the years and with that we need additional support and this year you guys stepped up to do that. With over 20 volunteers plus our managers it made the event run extremely smooth and without any hiccups. A huge thank you to all those of you that helped out over the weekend, with the tournament being this big we will continue to need your help over the years.

Sponsors

It is without any question that this club cannot exist in the manner it does without the generous contributions from all our sponsors. A personal thank you to all of them for what they have done over the 21/22 season it is really appreciated. I would also like to make a special mention to Mark Morris who has again secured another sponsor from Vindis for the 8 yrs. running.

Spond

We saw the club move over to the sports management app SPOND. This was done to give the club a noticeboard platform to keep everyone informed with the right information at the right time. Each manager will run their own age group on SPOND how they see fit regarding fixtures/training. We will be continuing to use the app to keep everyone informed and I hope you have found it useful.

22/23 season

The new upcoming season will see us field 17 teams from U7 – U18 Girls with many age groups having more than one team. We have added additional roles within our Exec group with a 2nd Child Welfare Officer, Scott and Kit and Sponsor Officer, Matt, this is due to the club’s growth to help things run smoothly. You will see from September that Sandy Secondary School with be having extensive work being carried out which will include a 4g football facility that we will have access to. These works will be carried out over the entire 22/23 season and are planned for our use for the 23/24 season. Our current match day car parking arrangements will be changing during the build and we will of course keep you all up to date with this. We also announced at our May tournament that we have also secured a large sponsorship package with Cozy’s Coaches based in Sandy so you will see their branding on several kits that still have the old Mid Beds Tigers logo on them.

I want to finish off by talking about the people that matter in this club and that is the children and the managers. Scott and I have again managed to see every single team play and regardless of results the conduct, smiles and joy that all our children display is second to none. All of our managers and children play the game in the right way with the right attitude regardless of the result. Our managers, coaches and exec committee help with this club and teams because they want to or have their own children involved, they are all volunteers and give up all their time free of charge. We may not get everything right all the time but what we always strive to achieve is a safe, enjoyable environment for all our children to play football and enjoy themselves and long may that continue.

Thank you for all your continued support and I look forward to the new season.
